Friends, there is a simple truth
about learning to chant from the Torah, Haftorah and the five
Megillot. The musical notes, called the “Tropes,” appear
in groups, and if you highlight them with different colors as
you learn to sing them, you can more easily recognize, remember
and chant those cantillation notes.
Cantors and Rabbis may have different
melodies for the tropes from one place to the next, but the trope-patterns
are always the same!
